SINGAPORE

Cycle & Carriage Bintang Bhd (CCB), an associate company of Singapore listed Cycle & Carriage Ltd, has temporarily shut down its assembly plant in Petaling Jaya.  The plant was closed on April 1st because of depressed sales.  CCB has been selling 80 to 90 cars per month this year compared to 740 cars per month last year.  The plant was originally scheduled close for a three-month period, but due to CCB’s economic situation, the company expects to delay its reopening.   (June 4th 1998)
