Hercules Inc has announced the opening of a new carrageenan plant in Cebu, Philippines. The plant is the largest of its kind in Asia with a capacity of 2,400 tpa. Carrageenan, made from seaweed, is a natural gum used as an ingredient in food and personal care products. Hercules is the second largest manufacturer of carrageenan worldwide. (September 28th 1998)
