PHILIPPINES



Ayala Health Care Inc. (AHCI) has called for an increase in authorized capital from P200m (US$2.5m) to P400m (US$5m). AHCI is the HMO of the Ayala Group of Companies, and is thought to be the largest HMO in the Philippines. The increase in capital will be directed towards investment in information technology and cutting edge medical technology. (February 9th 1998)

The fifth India-Philippine Joint Working Group meeting was held in Manila in January. The Filipino side agreed to consider the introduction of fast track registration procedures for Indian pharmaceutical manufacturers who have already registered with the US and European Union. This would enable the export of bulk drugs from India to the Philippines. (January 30th 1998)
