South East Asian Health News
A bimonthly newsletter of developments
in the pharmaceutical,
hospital and medical device markets.
ISSUE 8, AUGUST 1998
Introduction
Asian Governments are trying to maintain state sector health provision,
notwithstanding costs which have risen sharply following currency devaluation.
The answer lies with locally manufactured products. The downturn
has increased the need for foreign capital and technology. Asian
companies are looking for foreign partners, but are reluctant to sell their
equity at bargain basement prices. We are seeing a significant increase
in corporate activity.
