SINGAPORE

Merck & Co, Inc has awarded a contract to build a grassroots bulk pharmaceutical manufacturing facility to Foster Wheeler Eastern Private, Ltd (FWEPL), Singapore, a subsidiary of US-based Foster Wheeler Corporation. The project includes engineering design, procurement, construction and validation services for the manufacturing process unit which will be built at Merck's new site in Singapore. The plant is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2000. (September 18th 1998)

Raffles Medical Group (RMG), a primary healthcare company listed in the SES, aims to have its airport medical service grow into a core business, contributing up to 20% of the group's revenues within three years. The company has medical facilities at airports in Singapore and has signed a contract with Cathay Pacific of Hong Kong to do the same at Chep Lap Kok. RMG is presently in talks for airport contracts in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, China, India and Australia. (September 21st 1998)
